#1: Positioning A New Niche Supplement Brand To Stand Out

The Details:

A niche supplement brand approached us to help them build a strong market position for their upcoming launch. As a start-up, funds were limited, so I needed to be creative with my advice.

 

The supplement market is highly competitive. Many new brands hoping to enter the market fail to gain traction despite investing in paid and organic marketing channels. Often, these companies optimize for front-end sales rather than upsells and customer retention.

 

Working closely with the founders, I helped them to establish a strong market position and messaging. The process involved market research, strategic planning, and crafting a compelling brand story. As part of our process, I helped them create an elevator pitch that encapsulates their value for their specific target audience.

 

As part of their go-to-market (GTM) strategy, we discussed five ways they could research and create content that spoke directly to the problem their users faced, therefore removing a lot of guesswork commonly associated with content creation.

#2: Revamping The Online Offering From A Scottish Homeware Retailer

The Details:

In 2022, a homeware retailer approached us to help improve their online offering after seeing a massive drop in ecommerce sales after reopening their shops following COVID-19.

 

During the first lockdown, they temporarily shut their three retail shops, effectively reducing their revenue to zero. They built a Shopify store and used social media to promote it successfully. However, online sales dropped dramatically after they reopened their shops.

 

I started with a strategic review of their marketing and quickly noticed the need for process documentation, SOPs, and KPIs. Next, I analyzed their current marketing plan to understand what channels drove the most revenue.

 

While they had a great social media plan that drove sales, they needed help with SEO strategy and training, as well as email marketing.

 

As part of building a more robust marketing system, I implemented KPIs and put a tracking framework in place.

 

Next, I coached them on how to document repeatable processes to speed up execution and ensure knowledge wasn't lost if a key person left or was unable to work.

 

I identified that a lack of email marketing was hurting sales. With 10 minutes of work, we drove $1000 in sales that weekend. Next, I helped put a plan in place to send regular email campaigns while growing the list.

 

SEO is another area they had yet to invest in but one that would increase sales in the next few months. I built a comprehensive SEO plan, which included a keyword map, KPIs, and tracking.

 

Results:

By following my plan, this homeware retailer has easily 10x their investment. They now have a solid SEO strategy and the knowledge and tools to implement it. While they were initially scared of using email marketing, they now have a repeatable system in place that drives revenue.

#3: New Approach For A Luxury Lingerie Brand After A Change In Ownership

The Details:

After a change in ownership and direction, a luxury lingerie brand approached us to help with their marketing in 2023. After ten years of successfully selling handmade lingerie through retailers and an online shop, the new Managing Director decided to pursue a Direct-To-Consumer (D2C) model and move from WooCommerce to Shopify.

 

Despite being an award-winning company, they needed a marketing strategy. I analyzed the market, the brand's positioning, and previous marketing efforts. Using this research, together, we built a comprehensive marketing strategy, complete with customized goals and KPIs.

 

I quickly realized they were also missing a customer service plan, which was having a detrimental effect on their other marketing efforts. Improving the user experience involved setting a KPI for response time and optimizing their Gorgias customer service platform. 

 

With a more robust customer service plan in place, I turned our attention to building a better marketing system. I doubled their website traffic within 90 days by rolling out a solid SEO strategy.

 

Also, I advised on Conversion Rate Optimization (CRO), including wireframing several new ideas for product pages that would convert far better than the existing ones.

 

In addition to improving their SEO, I created several email campaigns, including one for new sign-ups, cart abandonment, and post-purchase. Together, we created an email marketing plan that allows them to build targeted weekly campaigns to drive more sales. So far, it’s driven over $5,000 of sales.

 

Also, I advised on social media strategy, including reputation management and customer support. The result is a more positive sentiment around the brand that, in time, will increase revenue.

 

Results:

By following my plan, this luxury lingerie brand has easily 20x their investment. They now have a solid marketing plan, know what to work on, and how to track their progress to ensure they reach their goals.

 

I knew without a new customer service strategy in place that doing any other marketing would create unsatisfied customers. They now have one that can scale with them and makes any marketing they do more effective.

 

Within the first 90 days, I doubled their SEO traffic and drove thousands in new revenue from email marketing. They now have solid plans for both of these marketing channels, which will allow them to keep growing sales.

 

 

#4: Unlocking the UK Market For An EMEA Smart Home Brand

The Details:

One of my hobbies is building home automation systems! A problem I couldn’t solve for a long time was finding EU compatible keypads. After noticing a Facebook post from a Spanish smart home brand that solved that problem and testing one of their products, I knew the market needed their devices!

 

It wasn't long until the CEO asked me to help them enter the UK market. They already had a strong dealership network in the Middle East but little sales in the UK and US markets.

 

I started with market research and quickly concluded that they offer several unique Z-Wave devices with universal appeal and an affordable price tag. During the process, I talked with other smart home enthusiasts to confirm our conclusions.

 

From there, I advised on tweaks to their website to improve the user experience and SEO. Also, I created graphics that better explained their products and their use cases, helping them move beyond the features to the benefits.

 

As part of the go-to-market (GTM) strategy, I built a list of B2B wholesalers and installers, who we cold-called. From these efforts, I made sales to several key individuals, some of whom have since reordered.
